The U.S. National Arboretum Internships and Jobs

The U.S. National Arboretum Internships are offered to college students interested in a career in horticulture, botany, research, education, facilities management, and public garden administration. The internships are paid positions.

Internships last about 3-6 months; college credit may also be earned. Full-time and part-time positions are offered. Interns will receive hands-on experience working throughout the Arboretum’s plant collections, greenhouses, and research laboratories.

The internships are for students who are not afraid to get their hands dirty and want to learn more about plant life. They may choose to work in horticulture, assisting plant collection curators in the development and maintenance of the plants, learn more about the art of bonsai, or learning more about molecular biology, plant pathology, and plant breeding in a lab setting.

The U.S. National Arboretum is located in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1927 by an Act of Congress and is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service.
